About Anna

Born and raised in Buckinghamshire, UK, I now live in Gloucestershire with my husband and two children.

A childhood passion for art initially led to award winning success in fashion design, followed by a move into teaching fine art, fashion and photography. After many years my passion for education and the power it holds to change lives has never faltered, however, the call to spend more time creating my own work eventually became too strong. I now dedicate my time primarily to my young family and painting, with occasional teaching.

My Work

In today’s fast paced world where we are bombarded with images throughout our waking day, as an artist I turn to painting for quiet, calm and solace. It’s a chance for me to reflect, to think, to take time. My paintings aim to invite moments of quiet reflection and contemplation.

Returning to painting after careers in fashion and education, brought a renewed sense of focus and sensitivity to my work in oils. Concentrating on portraits and figurative paintings, I am deeply inspired by the effects of light and the subtle narratives conveyed through the human face. Capturing a moment of ordinary life, something fleeting that is easily forgotten or a glimpse into the mind of another is something to treasure, it’s something real and something meaningful. When taking commissions it is an honour to be able to do this for others and hopefully give them something to hold onto and keep coming back to for many years ahead.

While portraiture remains central to my practice, occasional explorations of landscape and still life further focus on keen observation of atmosphere, beauty, and stillness.
